Skoodlet

self-published in February 2009: $6 PDF
also in a printed booklet through MagCloud for $6 (full preview available)

This hoodie-scarflet combo buttons around your neck and the hood can come up and down as needed. Written so you can use any yarn/needles/gauge, there are a bunch of variables that you determine based on your gauge, which you plug into the pattern, and there you go! So, use up any yarn you have around, or stripe between different yarns for a different look, whatever you want to do, it'll work!

The examples that you see here are knit with super bulky (green - two strands of Malabrigo chunky held together) and size 19 needles, with bulky (grey Lamb's Pride) and size 10 1/2 needles, and with recycled worsted hand-dyed shetland and size 9 needles. The pattern was test knit by several knitters, with all different weights/sizes, to assure that the gauge formulas work.

The stats:

You need any yarn, matching needles, and a gauge swatch to customize the pattern for your yarn (somewhere around 150-300 yards depending on weight)

Needles: a 24" or longer circular appropriately sized for your yarn

Extras: 4 different stitch markers, 2 or more buttons

Size: adult medium is default, but there are notes throughout the pattern for resizing it bigger or smaller

Skills needed: figure-8 style provisional cast-on, knitting on, vertical seaming, short rows, k2tog and ssk decreases, make 1 increase, and some very basic math

The pdf is 12 pages and includes how-tos for every technique listed above; the actual pattern is on 5 almost photo-less pages for printing.
